Erasmus + Sport: Traditgam project

The first year of implementation of the “Traditgam” has been successful 🎊

This year, Ķekavas novada Sporta centrs, in cooperation with project partner organisations Asociación deportiva y cultural Innodxt-Innosport, Aps Asd Margherita Sport e Vita and Instytut Rozwoju Sportu i Edukacji, launched the Erasmus+ project “Traditgam”. In the first year of cooperation, a database of traditional games was created, a traveling exhibition of the project was opened, and the most popular games were played in several day camps and during students’ leisure activities.

The aim of the “Traditgam” project led by the Ķekava Municipality Sports Centre is to promote intercultural, traditional values and intergenerational mobility through traditional games. To promote cultural exchange between European Union (EU) countries, this year, the project’s social network Facebook and Instagram profiles and website were created, where a database with 20 traditional games was published, as well as documenting the exchange of experiences between partner countries. “Traditgam” games were included in the programs of the Ķekava day camps “Be active – don’t sit at home!” and “Let’s go out!?” this summer, as well as played during students’ autumn leisure sports activities in Ķekava.

This autumn, a traveling exhibition was created that introduces students from comprehensive schools in the Ķekava region to the project, the member states and their cultural heritage, providing an opportunity to try out games from the childhood of their parents and their peers in their free time.

Many thanks to everyone who has already participated in the project and provided their support in its implementation. We hope for equally successful cooperation next year, which promises to be active and interesting – together with project partners, we will create an educational video and a good practice guide to create examples of sustainable environmental impact and cultural and historical exchange with traditional games, while respecting our diversity, which is an integral part of European identity.
